                                Abraham Lincoln's                                           Gettysburg Address

Sentence 9: "It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced."
Comments: The infinitive phrase that begins with to be here dedicated and the present participle used as a noun, living, are appositives; the former is in apposition with the subject it, the latter with us, the object of the preposition for. The relative clause which they have thus far so nobly advanced contains the relative clause who fought here.
